T-REX is an acronym for Total Range EXerciser* [A TRDEMARK REGISTRATION IS BEING APPLIED FOR]

* Three pending patent applications, one for the knee rehab system; one for the shoulder rehab system, and one for a software system for connecting a data base of information with the rehab machine controllers.

International PCT filings may be filed.

Trademark: T-REX is to be applied for as a registered trademark in class 010, medical devices, and class 028, exercise machines.

TREX devices are engineered to help patients regain their Range of Motion and quality of life. They are used in the physical rehabilitation of knee and shoulder joints, as well as adjoining muscles structures in persons who have had some type of joint replacement surgery, knee or shoulder repair surgery, or for persons with limited range of motion in the knee or shoulder joints due to other factors. TREX devices are ideal for treating arthrofibrosis of the knee (“stiff knee”) and adhesive capsulitus of the shoulder (“frozen shoulders”).

The patent-pending Total Range EXercisers (TREX) are considered “High Intensity Stretching” devices designed to break down scar-tissue that limits a patients Range of Motion (e.g. arthrofibrosis of knee, adhesive capsulitus of shoulder). They emulate the force and motions a therapist applies during physical therapy sessions.

TREX units are multifunctional and provide the following motion modalities:

[plus_list]

  • Manual Stretch– flexing or extending the joint to limit then a small increase in motion where TREX provides a tension to the joint over a timed period to increase joint range of motion.
  • Automatic Stretch– limits are set for flexion and extension, speed, force, and pause limits are set and then TREX will cycles between these limits.
  • Automatic Repetitive End Range– TREX limits are set for extension and flexion and then an angle “less than” is set, and then the TREX cycles between these limits. Great for warming up before aggressive stretching.
  • [/plus_list]

TREX, aside from being a high intensity stretching device that helps restore range of motion, provides for the following exercise & treatment modalities:

    [plus_list]

  • Isometric Exercise with the TREX can be done by setting the unit at a set angle and the patient then extending against the padded frame for a set number of seconds. Then by advancing the device to the next set angle (example every 5 degrees) and again providing active muscular contractions against the immovable padded frame of the TREX an isometric is performed.
  • PNF or Contract Relax Therapy is also a functional TREX modality. In this type of exercise (therapy) the patient presses against the TREX padded frame in the opposite direction they are trying to stretch in, and holding that pressure against the pad for 10 seconds. Then as they release the pressure they activate the TREX by using the manual hand held control buttons and extend their range by a few degrees. This process is repeated to continue the stretch of the joint, muscles and tendons to increase range of motion and avoiding the “stretch reflex”.
  • Eccentric exercise– is achieved while pressing against the padded frame in one direction and holding that pressure while simultaneously pressing the control button to move the TREX frame in the opposite direction. Hence, patient applies a force opposite direction of TREX while TREX overcomes the patients force and lengthens the muscles.
  • Concentric exercise– is achieved while TREX is moving in one direction then patient applies pressure to the padded frame in the same direction trying to make the frame move faster while the muscle is contracting. The force level on TREX is adjustable thus allowing for a variety pressure levels.

    TREX provides for SMART-REHAB

SHOULDERTREX Rehab LLC, through its patent pending software & firmware design provides for SMART-REHAB*.

TREX SMART-REHAB units will be equipped with their own “App”, Bluetooth, and WiFi technology which will allow for exchange of information through a confidential and HIPPA compliant web portal.

It will allow Workers Compensation Adjusters, Nurse Case Managers and healthcare professionals to access Utilization Reports via a web portal in order to monitor patient compliance. TREX will keep track of patient therapy cycles and measurements throughout the entire utilization period. Utilization report will identify how many times per day the patient used the TREX SMART-REHAB device, for how long each of those sessions lasted, it will also record the degree of flexion and extension achieved during each session, and will report the amount of force exerted by the TREX SMART-REHAB machine during patient’s therapy sessions.

Moreover, it will enable the healthcare professional to access a web portal and set device end range limits, set patient goals, monitor progress, and document patient compliance.

    * TREX SMART-REHAB units coming early 2017.

TREX Shoulder Rehab System [PATENT APPLICATION PENDING]

SHOULDER SYSTEMTREX Shoulder Rehab System, through its design, helps restore Range of Motion (ROM) to the shoulder (i.e. Adhesive Capsulitis, also known as “frozen shoulder”). Patients suffering from Frozen Shoulder, who have experienced difficulty with their ROM, have been able to avoid corrective surgery (e.g. manipulation under anesthesia, lysis of adhesions) by utilizing the TREX Shoulder Rehab System as an adjunct “home based” physical therapy device in concert with routine visits to their physical therapist and treating physician.

TREX Shoulder device is the ONLY home based Rehabilitative Shoulder System in the world with a tri-actuator design that allows patient to engage in all 6 shoulder ROM exercises from one machine.

    6 ROM Movements:

    • Forward Abduction
    • Forward Adduction
    • Internal Rotation
    • External Rotation
    • Horizontal Abduction
    • Horizontal Adduction

TREX Shoulder device is the ONLY Rehabilitative Shoulder System in the world that enables patient to attain all six motions from initial set-up, therefore, the patient does not have to make continual adjustments to unit as they move from one ROM action to another.

TREX allows for therapy exercises to be achieved by patient from a variety of “planes” and various force levels in order to provide optimal outcomes by simulating the movement, force, and intensity provided by a physical therapist during a rehab session.

TREX is power driven for patient convenience and provides a simple to use remote controller allowing for finite and precise incremental control. This empowers patient to dictate the pace to which they make incremental gains. This leads to greater patient compliance since they are able to control ROM increases through self management of their pain threshold.

TREX allows for patient controlled serial stretching sessions or repetitive “end range” recycling at push of a button.

TREX allows for variable pre-set limits so patients do not exceed instructed ROM limits during any session.

TREX is set up specific to every patient’s individual measurements. It comes with a heavy-duty tilt-back chair that provides comfort and allows for proper anatomical positioning of patient during therapy session. It also comes equipped with security “seat belts” that provide additional safeguards to ensure proper motion during therapy session.

TREX Knee Rehab System [PATENT APPLICATION PENDING]

KNEE SYSTEMTREX Knee Rehab System, through its patent pending design, helps restore Range of Motion (ROM) to the Knee (i.e. arthrofibrosis, also known as “stiff knee”). Patients suffering from Arthrofibrosis, who have experienced difficulty with their ROM, have been able to avoid corrective surgery (e.g. manipulation under anesthesia, lysis of adhesions) by utilizing the TREX Knee Rehab System as an adjunct “home based” physical therapy device in concert with routine visits to their physical therapist and treating physician.

TREX allows for BOTH extension and flexion therapy to be achieved by patient on ONE DEVICE.

TREX allows for therapy exercises to be achieved by patient from a variety of “planes” and various force levels in order to provide optimal outcomes by simulating the movement, force, and intensity provided by a physical therapist during a rehab session.

TREX Knee System allows up to:

    • 140 degrees of Flexion
    • (-20) degrees of Hyper-Extension

TREX is power driven for patient convenience and provides a simple to use remote controller allowing for finite and precise incremental control. This empowers patient to dictate the pace to which they make incremental gains. This leads to greater patient compliance since they are able to control ROM increases through self management of their pain threshold.

TREX allows for patient controlled serial stretching sessions or repetitive “end range” recycling at push of a button.

TREX allows for variable pre-set limits so patients do not exceed instructed ROM limits during any session.

Stabilization and mild distraction of knee joint are important features of the TREX Knee design as it allows for proper anatomical alignment throughout all ROM parameters.

TREX patented design allows patient to obtain flexion without the need of “pushing from the foot,” therefore avoiding potential concerns with “tibial translation” and “outward bending of the knee.”

TREX is set up specific to every patient’s individual measurements. It comes with a heavy-duty tilt-back chair that provides comfort and allows for proper anatomical positioning of patient during therapy session. This also provides the added benefit of never having to worry about “outward bending of the knee”. It also comes equipped with security “seat belts” that provide additional safeguards to ensure proper motion during therapy session.
